UNIVERSITY UNION

I joined University Union during my sophomore year, and over the past three years it has completely shaped how I see myself in the communications space. What started as a way to get involved on campus quickly turned into one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience, and it ultimately helped me realize this is the kind of work I want to pursue long-term.

 

Now, as a Public Relations Director, I get to play a role in bringing some of the biggest events on campus to life. I have had the opportunity to speak in interviews on behalf of the organization, working with the press to share the story behind our events and build excitement across campus.  I help to manage and monitor events with over 1,000 attendees. Through UU, I have also been able to meet and work with talent like Brittany Broski and Connor Wood, which has given me a behind-the-scenes look at how events and talent partnerships come together.

 

One of my favorite experiences has been creating and producing a social media series called mUUsic Matchmakers. From developing the concept to casting participants and managing production, it pushed me to think creatively while also paying attention to what actually connects with an audience. Seeing it grow to over 80,000 views was incredibly rewarding and showed me the impact that thoughtful, engaging content can have.

More than anything, UU has taught me how to adapt, think on my feet, and work closely with others to make things happen. It is where I have grown the most, both personally and professionally, and it is a big reason why I am so excited to continue in this field after graduation.
